Sunflower seeds are naturally rich in essential amino acids, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Their high zinc and magnesium content is particularly noteworthy. They also contain a lot of folic acid as well as vitamin E, B vitamins, beta-carotene, sulphur, potassium and selenium. In addition to an equally diverse spectrum of natural minerals and trace elements, peat is rich in humic acids, which are able to bind excess stomach acid and harmful substances in the intestine. Humic acids are particularly interesting because of their ability to bind the controversial pesticide glyphosate. The presence of glyphosate in more and more animal feed - of both plant and animal origin - is leading to more and more problems, particularly with regard to the supply of minerals and trace elements. This is because glyphosate has the property that it binds these micronutrients in the soil as well as in the plant and in the animal body to form insoluble complex compounds and these are therefore no longer available to supply the organism, resulting in a deficiency situation, even though there would actually be enough minerals and trace elements available, as these have been bound by glyphosate in such a way that they cannot be absorbed.

The fact that humic acids in turn bind glyphosate means that these vital nutrients can be better utilized by the body.
